Clogged Pores

Clogged pores are known to be the cause of various skin problems like white heads, black heads and pimples. Unclogging these pores is essential because only then getting rid of all the other skin problems is possible. You would be interested in knowing about unclogging the pores but knowing the cause behind the Clogged Pores can help a great deal. By a pore on the skin it is meant that there is an opening. There are two kinds of openings on the skin. One is the opening that allows the sweat to pass through.  The sweat gland is found at the end of the opening on the skin. Another kind of opening is for the hair producing follicles. The second type of opening is also for sebaceous glands. A clog can form on any of these openings and based on the opening, the composition of the clog varies.

In the opening of the skin surface are the pores, when any particles get clogged up, pimples are formed. Usually the particles that get clogged are dirt, grime and makeup.  Not many people find it mandatory to remove the makeup which they wear through the day. Also many find it not essential to wash the face before going to sleep. Washing the face with a gentle soap is recommended because makeup, grime or dirt are removed during the process. When any of these are left overnight, they get clogged into the pores. Clogging usually happens at night because of this very reason. These particles accumulate and together with dead skin cells, sebum and keratin, form white heads, black heads and pimples. The black heads appear to be dirt because of the color. Actually the composition of the black heads is same as that of the pimples and the white heads. The difference between all these is decided by the pore being left open or closed.

Blackheads and Acne:
The black heads which appear to be black when removed actually look yellowish brown in color.  The reason behind the black color is the melanin present in the dead skin cells and the irregular reflection of light. When the pore is open oxidization of the composition results in black color. The melanin present in the skin is also a reason behind the black color of the composition. Many assume that melanin is also a reason for clog pores but the truth is it is a component present in the dead skin cells. When the clogged pores are present in the sebaceous glands, these glands become enlarged. This is what we call as acne. Acne is more common in adolescents. Puberty is the time that triggers hormonal changes and this leads to hair producing units getting produced in more numbers on the skin. In case of acne, apart from the clogged pores, various other reasons do exist. For instance, diet is a reason behind acne. When one consumes a diet that has a large component of junk foods, acne is inevitable, worse and the inflammation is high. The swollen sebaceous glands have pores that are clogged with sebum. Sebum is moisturizer produced by the human body which actually protects the skin can turn to be villainous when produced in excess. It plays a vital role in causing acne. The clogged pores where sebum is tracked also open vent for bacteria and keratin. This can lead to infection which is seen as a cyst.

Clogged pores and the cosmetics:
Clogged pores are not only the results of trapped sebum, dirt, grime and the makeup products which are not washed off properly. There are many products used to enhance beauty which actually offer exact opposite results when they lead to Clogged Pores. Shampoos, cleanser, cosmetics, sun blocks and other beauty aid products are comedogenic in nature. By the term comedogenic, it simply means that the product can lead to clogged pores. It is not mandatory for the products to claim themselves to be comedogenic on the labels. This makes it impossible for the users to avoid them. But it is essential and easy to know how to clean the pores. You can not only get rid of the existing problems but actually avoid new skin problems appearing.
